Over the weekend, my good buddy Jeff grabbed a box set of Kurosawa's first few films from the library for us to check out while I stayed at his pad to find my own in SoCal. To say the very least, I was surprised on two different levels:
1. At how well these films were crafted in all aspects of production.
2. That I was even surprised in the first place, since Akira Kurosawa's name's been synonymous with mastery in my mind for years.
I should've been doing these studies forEVER ago. Staging, lighting, composition; it all kicked my ass in the best way. My man Jeff has the best inclinations.
